About Carl Tasha

Carl Tasha was a sculptor and painter who lived much of his life on Cape Cod, his family home. He is most widely known for his sculpture and his captivating jewelry and belt buckles. Many people have collected his work since the 1960s.

How He Worked. His distinctive style is due in part to the specific metalsmithing techniques he used and developed: melting bronze rods with a hand-held torch while using the melting rod to guide the flowing metal, forging the work as it cools (hammering, bending), and sometimes fusing separate elements together to form one piece.

Limited Editions. The buckles are Limited Editions, restricted to a certain declared number. They are produced by Carl Tasha Designs in Limited Editions, the studio founded by Carl with Nancy Lamb Gribbin in the early 1970s to make castings of his work. Each buckle is signed and numbered. As in prior years, each piece is made under the careful eye and hand of Nancy Gribbin.
